About Us

Selma Dothan

We have a vast array of programs for you and your family to get involved in and serve with.  Each age group has opportunities to worship the Lord and study His Word in various areas.  Check out the areas of interest and contact the people listed for more information or to explore how you may serve within these ministries.

Sunday Morning

Wednesday Nights

Connect Groups are designed to connect people with one another in order to build Christ-centered relationships and dig deeper into God's Word together.  Each group is a safe place for all persons to find real answers. These answers are not provided by life experiences or stories, but through true application of God's Word. The main goal is that people are "Connected" together through Christ!

Our worship service is not just an event that happens once a week. It's an overflow of our daily worship that we live out as members of the body of Christ. We come together to lift our hearts and voices in praise through prayer, singing, and the biblical teaching of God's Word every Sunday morning.

Kid's Church is a chance for our children to be discipled  by Godly leaders within the church. The children start off the service by joining their parents in our worship service. After worship children are then dismissed for a time of teaching that's directed toward them specifically. Our Selma Kids ministry uses the Gospel Project curriculum as a supplement for biblical teaching.
On Wednesday nights there is something for everyone at Selma!

Selma Kids - We have a growing kids ministry where kids can come and grow in the Lord through activities with our Kids Department!

Our Selma Student Ministry meets on Wednesdays at 6:30 PM for a time of fellowship, Godly teaching, and worship.

Every Wednesday night at 6:30, our adults come together for a time of prayer for the church as well as a time of fellowship. We would love for you to join us.

Our Choir meets for practice after the activities in the sanctuary each Wednesday night. The choir is comprised of members of our church whose desire is to use the gifts and talents that God has given them to worship Him through the performance of theologically rich songs and presentations.

A Little More In Depth...

The sole basis for all our beliefs are outlined in the Bible: which is uniquely God inspired, without error, and the final authority on all matters on which it bears. As the Bible teaches, there is one God, eternally existing in three persons-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-each possessing all the attributes of deity.

We believe that God created humans to have fellowship with Him, but they defied God by sinfully going their own way. As a result, we need God’s saving grace to end our alienation from God. Salvation comes only through God’s grace-not human effort-and must be received personally by repentance and faith.

We believe that Jesus Christ lived a sinless life on earth and voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute. This accomplished salvation for all who receive grace by trusting in Him alone. He rose from the dead and is the only mediator between people and God. He will return to earth to consummate history.

FAQS ABOUT YOUR FIRST VISIT

WHAT WILL SERVICES BE LIKE?

The service experience at Selma Dothan includes music and a message. The music is led by our Worship Pastor along with a live band. The Message addresses real issues that real people face every day as well as solid biblical teachings. You can expect to be both encouraged and challenged by our pastors.
Each Sunday service lasts for approximately 70 minutes. You will find a friendly environment where everyone is welcomed!

What should I wear?

We dress very casual around here. Some people wear a tie and others wear jeans. Feel free to come as you are and join along and worship freely.

How early should I arrive?

Our Connect groups start at 9:10am and the service starts at 10:30am.
When attending for the first time, plan on arriving at least 10 minutes before the service begins.
This will give you time to park and grab a cup of coffee before the service starts. You'll want to make sure you get into the sanctuary before the music begins.

What about my kids?

Our kids ministry is designed for children from birth through fifth grade. Your child experiences age-appropriate teaching, music, and fun activities designed to introduce them to a life-changing journey to follow Christ. Our kids ministry is led by staff and volunteers who will be there each week to care for and love on your child. Your children will join you for worship in the Sanctuary and then be dismissed to Kids Church before our teaching begins. By the way, we utilize a check-in system that ensures a safe environment for your child and also allows for efficient drop-off and pick-up for parents.

Bilblical Authority

WE EMBRACE BIBLICAL AUTHORITY
Scripture is inspired by God and it’s our full and final authority on all matters of faith and practice.

WE EMBRACE PRAYER

We are a church that prays, believing that prayer is the power source behind everything that happens in our ministry.

WE EMBRACE GRACE

Our salvation is received by the grace of God and not by our self-effort, and that shapes our acceptance and interaction with others.

WE EMBRACE AUTHENTICITY

Because none of us are perfect, we acknowledge both our strengths and our weaknesses as we pursue holiness and unity as a church. Truth-telling and biblical conflict resolution are essential to relational authenticity.

WE EMBRACE EXCELLENCE

Through forethought and intentionality, we pursue excellence in our desire to honor God and inspire people.

WE EMBRACE PEOPLE

People matter to God, so they matter to us. Our words and actions will demonstrate our love for God by loving others, including those outside the faith.

WE EMBRACE A KINGDOM-MINDSET

 WE EMBRACE GENEROSITY

We partner with other churches and organizations and creatively embrace new methods to reach more people for Christ.
We serve a generous God and want to reflect Him in being generous with our time, spiritual gifts and finances.

Our Goals

At Selma, we believe that God has commanded His church to “make disciples of all nations”.  This heartfelt belief drives everything we do, from the weekly programs we employ on our campus to the mission endeavors we undertake around the world, each one has been carefully selected and structured for the purpose of making fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. If you are looking for a church that will encourage and equip you to grow in your walk with Christ, we invite you to become a part of our journey toward fulfilling the disciple-making commission Jesus gave His followers.
